Between April 13th and 16th, the 7th China-Singapore Forum on Leadership was held under the theme “Addressing People's Aspirations for Better Lives” at the China Executive Leadership Academy Yan'an (CELAY), Shaanxi Province. Mr. Chen Xi, Member of Political Bureau of CPC Central Committee and Minister of the Organization Department, and Mr. Teo Chee Hean, Deputy Prime Minister of Singapore, attended the opening ceremony and delivered a speech respectively. Prof. Cao Wenze, Executive Vice President of CELAP, attended the forum and visited CELAY facilities, accompanied by Mr. Liu Genfa, Deputy Director General of International Exchange Department.
At the panel discussion, Prof. Cao introduced CELAP’s cooperation with Singapore in government leadership training and education. He said that in over ten years since CELAP was established, a total of 382 Chinese government leaders in 13 delegations received training in Singapore, and 123 Singaporean government leaders in 4 delegations were trained at CELAP. He also introduced the unified online government service launched by the Shanghai Municipal government, noting that the experience and lessons with the introduction of this new public service has been incorporated in CELAP’s curricula for the use of domestic and international training classes.
The first China-Singapore Forum on Leadership was held at CELAP in 2009. Created as part of formal China-Singapore governmental exchanges, the forum serves as a major platform for bilateral dialogue in leadership training, and has been hosted in turns by the Organization Department of CPC Central Committee and the Prime Minister's Office (PMO) of Singapore. During the forum, Prof. Cao met with Stanley Loh Ka Leung, Ambassador of Singapore to China. They were briefed by CELAY leaders on the academy’s innovative practices in leadership education and training, and visited the site of the Seventh National Congress of the Communist Party of China, as well as CELAY’s teaching centers, library and canteen. |
