On July 3, The Center of China Executive Leadership Academy Pudong and University of Oxford was inaugurated in Oxford. Based on the agreement, CELAP and Oxford would cooperate on urban development and transformation through various methods thereafter.
Prof. Feng Jun, Executive Vice President of CELAP, and Prof. Ewan McKendrick, Registrar of University of Oxford, signed the agreement on the inauguration ceremony. Prof. Feng Jun introduced the two parties’ cooperative relations to Oxford faculty and students. He said, “the cooperation of two institutions started since 2006. Lectures from Oxford professors on urban planning and public policy have gained considerable repute at CELAP. Therefore we decide push the cooperation to a new high level.” “We can send Chinese officials to Oxford for training, and invite British officials to CELAP as well”, he said.
Prof. Feng also spoke highly of British experiences in urbanization. “China could learn from British experiences in urbanization. Urbanization and urban-rural integration will be a key driving force for China’s future development. The program offers an opportunity to introduce new ideas and methodologies worldwide to Chinese officials.”
Prof. Ewan McKendrick delivered a speech on behalf of University of Oxford. “We are proud to have CELAP as our partner,” he said, “as we are both committed to finding solutions for challenges from the 21st century.”
