On Nov. 13, Prof. Feng Jun, Executive Vice President of CELAP, met with Mr. Alfredo Sirkis, Brazilian Congressman representing the state of Rio de Janeiro, and Mr. Joel Sampaio, an official from Brazilian Consulate in Shanghai.
Prof. Feng stressed CELAP's program “Urbanization and Urban Modernization” and said, “There are lots of successful experiences in Brazil for us to learn in ecological city construction and urban management. CELAP's ‘Smart City Lab' introduced Brazilian cases to exhibit modern urban construction.” Prof. Feng also hoped that Mr. Sirkis can support CELAP's teaching with his experiences in urban planning and management.
Mr. Sirkis shared his views on modern urban planning. In his words, scientific decisions have a long-term impact on cities' construction and development. Both experiences of success and failure are valuable assets for us to study. He was glad to have the opportunity to share thoughts and opinions with CELAP faculty. He also expected for further cooperation.
Mr. Alfredo Sirkis was elected in 2010 as a Congressman. He is the chairman of the Rio + 20 sub commission of Foreign Affairs and National Defense
